Hello August!
It's finally the last month of Winter and I couldn't be more excited for Spring, sunshine and warmth. My Winter playlist has been... wild. I've done a bit of travelling back and forth between Port Elizabeth and Jeffreys Bay and managed to find some great music. I also crossed two musicians off of my bucket list this month (Matthew Mole & Jeremy Loops), so you'll see them feature a bit further down.

Cool Around You - Yo Grapes
I discovered Yo Grapes - a local indie act from the Desmond and the Tutus' drummer Craig Durrant on Facebook - and was pleasantly surprised. Cool Around You has me imagining my first love & my enneagram 4 self is LOVING the nostalgia.

[as I was typing this I got a notification for Yo Grapes' newest video Lucky Fish. Check it out here: YouTube ]

are you sure? - Loote
This entire Loote EP has been on repeat all month, but are you sure? is a whole freaking mood. It's perfect for a late night drive on a quiet highway... but then again, the entire EP is.

The Archer - Taylor Swift
Fewer things get me more excited than Taylor Swift releasing new music. The Taylor Swift "Track 5 Syndrome" is a real thing - from Cold As You and White Horse, to Dear John and All Too Well, I've almost always been hit in the feels from the lyrics and The Archer is no exception.

All the king's horses, all the king's men
Couldn't put me together again
'Cause all of my enemies started out friends
Help me hold onto you
Wow. Just, wow.

Just One Day - Mighty Oaks
This is my dreaming of adventure song. It takes me back to my favourite summer - late nights with my favourite people and catching sunrises and sunsets. It's the kind of song that makes me feel like everything's okay and reminds me to live my best life.

Second Night of Summer - BORNS
I love BORNS. It started with Electric Love and grew to American Money, and now we're here. This song makes me feel nostalgic (anyone else sensing a theme here?) but the lyrics... YES.
throwing me that shade like I'm not cool enough

Walk Me Home - P!nk
I grew up loving P!nk and everything she stood for. Girl Power. Yes. When Walk Me Home came out, it took me a little while to get into it, in all honesty until I saw her interview on a red carpet somewhere, where she responded "This adulting thing is a lot. And it's better shared with a loved one" when she was asked about the meaning behind Walk Me Home, and that hit me right in the feels.

Truth Hurts - Lizzo
This song was ahead of its time. Straight up savage. The ultimate "get over that boy" song. This one's dedicated to everyone reading this who's dealing with a guy who is wasting their time.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

[also, Lizzo twerking while playing the flute at the 2019 BET Awards is everything]

The Wedding Song - Matthew Mole
Watched this performed live this month. It's beautiful. That is all.

See I Wrote It For You- Jeremy Loops
This is hands down one of my all time favourite songs, and getting to see it performed live made my life: the crowd & Jeremy Loops' energy was everything I could ever dream of. But this is a permanent fixture on my playlist.
