HELLO 20! 5 THINGS I WANT TO ACHIEVE IN MY TWENTIES

I turned 20 yesterday (15 February) & I'm so keen for the decade ahead. I've seen through my friends that your twenties are extremely unpredictable - some of my friends are moving back to their hometowns because their career paths have changed, some of my friends are engaged, some of my friends are married with kids. Your twenties are wild. I have no idea where my life will be in 10 years time, but I do know that there are some things I want to achieve before I reach 30.

MASTER THE ART OF KEEPING IN TOUCH

So many of my friends have moved away, or our lives are no longer "in sync". In my twenties, I want to become better at staying in touch with my tribe, whether it's via email or WhatsApp. I want to start sending physical birthday cards instead of just text - I feel like handwritten notes are better than a standard text message or Facebook post.

KEEP A PLANT ALIVE FOR LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS

Somehow, I've never managed to keep a plant alive. I've had many plants gifted to me since I was 16 and somehow they've all died. It's ridiculously hard to take care of something that doesn't bark, squeak or cry lemme tell ya.

TAKE A SOLO HOLIDAY

I feel the ultimate indication of independence is being able to travel without your friends/family to a new, strange place. I have a few places both in South Africa and around the world that are on my bucket list, so ticking a few of these places off in my twenties would be amazing.

LIVE ON MY OWN

While living with my family is great, and cost saving, I think it would be important and key for me to live on my own for at least a year. Having a space to yourself is the dream - a place to entertain friends, to use as an escape for when I don't feel like dealing with the world. I love the idea of decorating a space to reflect your taste - my own place would be filled with neutral colours and would be cosy as heck.

GET FITTER

I used to hate exercise while I was in school - Phys. Ed. was my worst subject. As I've gotten older, I've fallen in love with taking care of my body - eating healthier and working out are high up on my list of priorities now. I have a gym contract, but find the gym to be an incredibly intimidating place. My twenties will be the years of conquering my fear of the gym and taking better care of my body.

What do you want to achieve the next few years of your life? Are there achievements you're proud of already?
