Things I’d Tell My 15 Year Old Self

Taylor Swift’s song Fifteen popped up on my playlist a few days ago and obviously, I spent the rest of the day reminiscing and thinking...

I’m 19 now, & when I was 15 I was basically obsessed with the song. It’s so weird, though, looking back - Taylor Swift had some great advice, that I wish I’d just listened to. Anyway, here are some things I’d tell my 15 year old self, based off T-Swizzle’s song:

  1. High school will be hard. You’ll lose friends, you’ll gain friends. What’s important is that you don’t allow yourself to be negatively influenced by the wrong group of people.
  2. Chances are you’ll meet your best friends in high school. Treasure them. Make the most of your boring 6-8 hour school days. I promise you, these will be the best part of your high school days.
  3. Your first kiss will make your head spin. Don’t get caught up in it - high school relationships are rough, and as much as I believe in true love - your first relationship probably won’t last. Don’t get caught up in it.
  4. Relationships are not the be all and end all of high school. Get your priorities straight, and set yourself up for a #GirlBoss future.
  5. Time heals everything. It took me nearly 3 years to finally come to terms with one of the biggest betrayals of trust I had ever experienced. Focus on your growth, and your future, and letting go of the past will become easier.
What would you tell your 15 year old self? I’d love to know in the comments! ❣️
